The Obama legacy tour has taken an interesting stop with this action against our strongest Middle Eastern ally. The United States on Friday obstained from voting on the UN resolution, allowing it to go through which prohibits Israel to continue construction in Palestinian Territories.
The interesting thing is Obama’s legacy tour was being rather successful until this point. His approval ratings were hovering around 50% which is almost unheard of for a two term President. Our President is seemingly obsessed with public opinion which makes this move even more troubling.
I personally believe that Obama cared more about insulting Israel than the public opinion from this maneuver. It has already been interesting to see the Jewish Democrat community come out and blast Obama for this action or lack there of. One of his strongest critics of this was Rosanne Barr, who blasted him in a series of tweets.
Israel is our strongest ally, both in the Middle East and in the world. It will be interesting to see the fallout from this decision because I think it may have many ramifications. I believe we have both a strategic responsibility with them in that region and a spiritual one as well, to ally and protect The Holy Land.
Israel’s Prime Minister has already come out to harshly criticize the President and to look forward with a Trump presidency:
According to TheBlaze:
“Israel looks forward to working with President-elect Trump and with all our friends in Congress, Republicans and Democrats alike, to negate the harmful effects of this absurd resolution,” Netanyahu said.
Continuing to see actions from such a failure, it sure makes us excited to bring in Trump and move on from such a disastrous eight years.
